Bio | Judith Aldridge is professor of criminology at the University of Manchester in the UK, and George Soros Visiting Chair at the Central European University in 2017. National and global drug policy concerns have motivated her research for over two decades into drug use and drug markets. In recent years, her research has focused on how drug markets have been facilitated by technological developments supporting anonymous internet activities in the form of so-called ‘darknet’ drug markets. Judith is a member of the UK government Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, and has acted in an expert capacity with organisations including the European Commission, the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe, and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Abuse.
