Bio | Kate Herrity is Andrew W. Mellon Junior Research Fellow in Punishment at Kings College, Cambridge. She is interested in working at the boundaries and meeting places between fields and disciplines, particularly those relating to sensory experience with a particular focus on sound and music in prisons. She is currently working on the monograph of her PhD “Rhythms and Routines (the limits of legitimacy) and a volume exploring the function of narratives, based on the same research. Co-edited with Bethany Schmidt and Jason Warr “Sensory penalities: exploring the sensory in spaces of punishment and control” was published by Emerald earlier this year, and is accompanied by an ongoing blog: www.sensorycriminology.com
